California Gov. Newsom’s Office Denies Adverse Effect from Booster, Cops to Attending Oil Heiress’s Wedding

The Star News Network, acting on a tip from a source who attended Ivy Getty’s Saturday wedding in San Francisco, spoke to California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office about his recent disappearance from public life, rumored to be connected to an adverse effect of his COVID-19 booster shot.

According to The Star’s tipster, Newsom, who confirmed that he was in attendance at Getty’s wedding, told another wedding attendee that he had a negative health reaction to his booster shot.

Tuesday, Newsom’s office denied that the governor experienced any problems from his booster shot.

“The Governor had no adverse reaction to his booster shot,” Press Secretary Daniel Lopez told The Star by email.

Other news sites speculated that Newsom suffered from Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) after the booster shot, a claim which Newsom’s office also denied. GBS is an autoimmune disorder where a person’s immune system damages their own nerves, which can cause muscle weakness, according to the CDC. This condition can last between a few weeks or a few years.

Last week, Newsom abruptly canceled his plans to travel to the COP26 climate summit in Europe, and then mysteriously disappeared from the public.

His office originally said he had left the public spotlight for “family obligations.”

But according to Lopez, the governor has been working.

“Last week Governor Newsom worked in the Capitol with staff on urgent issues including COVID-19 vaccines for kids, boosters, ports, the forthcoming state budget and California’s continued economic recovery,” Lopez said. “He will have public events this week related to the economy and vaccines.”

Getty is the heiress to the Getty Oil fortune, reportedly worth more than $5 billion. Newsom has long been tied to the Getty family. His father was the Getty family’s attorney and the administrator of the Getty family trust.

When asked about skipping Newsom skipping the climate summit to attend the wedding of an oil baroness, Lopez responded blithely.

“The wedding date did not conflict with the travel schedule to COP26,” he told The Star, which is irrelevant given the fact that Newsom skipped the summit.
