Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson: Trump ‘Endured Eternal Coup’ During Presidency

On the heels of massive news proving that former President Donald Trump was intentionally and falsely maligned as a Russian asset and that he was spied upon by intelligence agencies during his 2016 election campaign and his subsequent presidency, one senator took to Fox News in an attempt to set the record straight.

“For many years now, as I’ve investigated this, I’ve always thought the Russian Hoax was just one intelligence community diversionary operation to basically cover up what they had done during the 2016 campaign,” Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) told host Jesse Watters on Fox News.

Johnson then discussed how Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents attempted to distract from their failed effort to sabotage Trump’s campaign by actively creating fake scandals, which the press would run unquestioningly.

“Ever since I released the Peter Strzok/Lisa Page texts – the one I’ve highlighted is the one that was written in December of 2016 from after the election, but before the presidency. It reads, ‘Think our sisters have begun leaking like mad. Scorned and worried and political, they’re kicking into overdrive,'” he said.

“What were they worried about?” Johnson asked rhetorically. “I always felt they were worried about their wrongdoing – their conspiracy – during the 2016 election campaign and then beyond that. What President Trump endured – he basically endured an eternal coup during the entire four years of his administration. Remember, within two weeks, two of his phone calls with foreign leaders were leaked to the media.”

“And so this has been a massive conspiracy, an internal coup, and the conspirators, the co-conspirators, look what they have dragged our nation through for the last five years,” he said. “This needs to be exposed, the truth needs to be exposed, the American people deserve the truth and these people need to be held accountable.”

Johnson emphasized that the mainstream media needs to be held accountable the most, describing them as the primary co-conspirators in the efforts to sabotage Trump’s presidency. He said they were complicit, not simply fooled, when they reported false information to the American public for years.

Reached for comment, Johnson spokeswoman Vanessa Ambrosini told The Wisconsin Daily Star that “the American public deserves a full accounting from AG Merrick Garland and the Justice Department on this issue and that the news media needs to be held accountable.”

For years, Trump claimed that he was illegally surveilled, and the press said he was lying. The press also maligned his supporters who repeated that claim as “conspiracy theorists.”
