Derrick Van Orden, a Republican running for the U.S. House of Representatives, picked up an endorsement from Senator Tim Scott (R-SC).
Scott praised the former Navy SEAL and businessman, who is running in a swing district in the western portion of Wisconsin.
“Derrick Van Orden is exactly the type of person we need in Congress to end the disastrous one-party rule in Washington and put our country back on the path to prosperity. He is a decorated veteran Navy SEAL, a former small business owner, and a proud American who will always work to better our nation. I’m proud to stand behind him as we work toward a brighter future for our country,” Scott said in a statement.
Van Orden is viewed as the frontrunner in the Republican Party primary, collecting an impressive fundraising haul. According to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Van Orden is dominating his competition, including all potential Democratic nominees, in fundraising efforts.
He took in more than $800,000 in the previous fundraising quarter, giving him $1.4 million cash on hand. The closest competitor has roughly $286,000.

I am deeply grateful for his endorsement, and am looking forward to partnering with him in Washington D.C. to stop the radical Left’s agenda and bring prosperity back to America. One Team, One Fight!” Van Orden responded to the endorsement
Previously, the contender picked up an endorsement from former President Donald Trump, with Trump saying “he will always fight for Secure Borders, the Second Amendment, and our incredible Farmers.”
Rep. Ron Kind, the Democrat incumbent for the seat, opted to not seek re-election.
