Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Rebecca Kleefisch Collects More Than $3 Million During Initial Months of Campaign

Wisconsin GOP gubernatorial candidate Rebecca Kleefisch collected more than $3 million during the first four months of her effort to defeat Governor Tony Evers, according to a release from her campaign.

Kleefisch hauled in approximately $3.3 million during the fundraising quarter, a number that outpaces previous campaigns for the state’s top position.

For example, at the same point of the race, Evers raised $312,015 in 2017. Furthermore, former GOP nominee Mark Neumann took in roughly $1.3 million.

“In only four months, hard-working Wisconsinites from every corner of the state have embraced our grassroots movement,” Rebecca Kleefisch said in a statement. “Our campaign has the infrastructure that will unite conservatives to take back Wisconsin and retire Tony Evers.”

The donations are composed of nearly 7,000 individuals that reside in each county across the state.

In recent weeks, Kleefisch has focused her campaign on school closures and the lack of action from Governor Evers, which has allowed thousands of students to be forced to learn virtually.

Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) and Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), districts in the state’s largest cities, moved to remote learning at the beginning of the new semester.

The campaign’s first ad in 2022 knocked the incumbent governor for his connections to teachers’ unions, groups that have advocated for the shutdown of classrooms.

“Tony Evers sided with union bosses and locked our kids out of their classrooms, while children in poor and rural communities paid the heaviest price. As a mom, I will always put Wisconsin kids first,” the former Lieutenant Governor said in the 30-second video.

“Keep our schools open. Raise standards and send more money directly to the classroom to help children make up for lost time. And I’ll empower parents by expanding school choice,” she explained as her plan to combat education in the state.
