Wisconsin Gubernatorial Candidate Tim Michels Denounces Out-of-State Connections

GOP gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels is distancing himself from his connections to other states, as he runs to lead Wisconsin.

First reported by Wisconsin Right Now, Michels allegedly has extensive holdings in Connecticut and New York.

After securing a construction project, Michels moved to New York City to oversee the project. However, he maintained the property after the construction ended.

“Furthermore, from 2013-2021, all three Michels children attended and graduated from high schools in Connecticut and New York City, Wisconsin Right Now has documented. They are not boarding schools, and the kids were extensively involved in high school sporting activities there,” the news outlet detailed.

However, Michels told radio host Dan O’Donnell that he met all residency requirements in order to run and has voted in previous elections in the state.

“I go where duty calls. For many years, it was wherever the Army sent me. For the last couple of decades, it was where Michels Construction needed me, and on any of those projects, I spent the bulk of my time in Wisconsin. I paid my taxes here. I voted here. Wisconsin is home and always will be. Anyone insinuating anything to the contrary is just plain wrong,” he said in a separate statement.

“I’m stepping away from my career to ensure Wisconsin doesn’t have four more years of a governor asleep at the wheel, but a real leader who can provide other Wisconsinites the same opportunity I have been blessed to have. That’s upsetting a lot of people. Good.”

Michels just entered the Republican primary in order to take on incumbent Democrat Governor Tony Evers. He is taking on former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, businessman Kevin Nicholson, and State Representative Timothy Ramthun (R-Campbellsport).
