Ronna McDaniel Says She’ll Resign as Republican National Committee Chairwoman after Super Tuesday

by Madeleine Hubbard

Ronna McDaniel said she will resign from her position as Republican National Committee chair days after Super Tuesday.

“The RNC has historically undergone change once we have a nominee and it has always been my intention to honor that tradition,” McDaniel said in her resignation announcement, ABC News reported Monday. “I remain committed to winning back the White House and electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November.”

With Super Tuesday scheduled for March 5, just over a week away, her resignation will be effective March 8.

There was a report indicating that McDaniel would resign after the South Carolina Republican presidential primary, which former President Donald Trump won on Saturday over former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley.

Trump reportedly met with McDaniel earlier this month to discuss recommendations for the RNC.

McDaniel, who has served as RNC chair since 2017, has been under fire over the past few months over fundraising shortfalls and underwhelming GOP election results.
