Biden Family Has a Long History of Being Kept Afloat by Democratic Donors

The newly released transcript of presidential brother James Biden’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee shows he received large sums in the form of loans from Democratic donors, mirroring Hunter Biden’s relationship with lawyer and friend Kevin Morris.

According to the transcript, James Biden confirmed that he received two loans from associates who were also Democratic Party donors, though he disputed the value of the loans provided by the committee.

The first loan uncovered by the impeachment investigators was an $800,000 loan from Joey Langston, a friend of President Biden and donor to his campaigns, Just the News previously reported. According to a source familiar with Langston’s testimony, James Biden only paid back $400,000, half of the original loan. Langston was convicted and spent time in prison for attempting to illegally influence a judge for his client during the same time period he was loaning James Biden money.

Langston reportedly hosted fundraisers for then-Senator Joe Biden and also sought legislative assistance from him, according to ProPublica. James Biden’s lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from Just the News Friday.

Investigators said to James Biden “We interviewed Joey Langston. My memory — I’m just paraphrasing this — that he loaned you — he said approximately, I believe, around $800,000 or so. He didn’t have an exact amount.” Biden’s attorney confirmed this and that his client only repaid approximately half of the loan.

“$200,000 of that was interest, okay? So — you know. But the fact of the matter is, I am still obligated, and I still feel a responsibility to pay him back once I am in a position, you know, after these usurious legal fees and all the other things that I’ve been involved in,” James Biden quipped.

The second loan, which the committee alleges was for $900,000, came from a wealthy Delaware car dealer, John Hynansky. James Biden confirmed that Joe Biden has met with the car dealer in the past, who also donated to Biden’s campaigns. FEC records show that Hynansky is a major donor to Democratic candidates and their PAC’s, having donated tens of thousands of dollars in only the last several years.

Hynansky, a Ukrainian-American, operates the largest share of Ukraine’s car showrooms and service centers specializing in Porsches, Jaguars, Land Rovers, and Bentleys, among other non-American brands he imports. Real Clear Investigations reported that the Biden administration helped Hynansky’s team in Ukraine prepare for the invasion, including placing calls to Hynansky’s top executive in Kiev 13 days in advance of Russian tanks crossing the border.

Though James Biden originally confirmed the $900,000 value, his lawyer disputed that number based on the loan documentation in their possession. James Biden confirmed that he has an outstanding balance on the loan of $97,000.

James Biden’s receipt of substantial sums from donors closely mirrors the financial assistance Hunter Biden received from his lawyer, friend, and donor Kevin Morris.

In his transcribed interview with the Oversight Committee, Morris confirmed reporting about his $5 million in loans to Hunter Biden. In November, Just the News reviewed evidence compiled by federal and congressional investigators that showed Hunter Biden collected over $6 million since his father began running for the presidency in 2020. The assistance flowed predominantly from prominent Democratic donor and powerful Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris, whom the first son reportedly befriended at one of his father’s fundraising events, according to The New York Times.

The records show the financial assistance from Morris to Hunter Biden began during the height of his father’s presidential campaign in early 2020 and mushroomed over the years to include many aspects of Hunter Biden’s lifestyle, including five-figure monthly rents at California homes, child support payments, some travel, legal bills, and federal and local tax debts totaling over $2 million.

Originally, the loans were undocumented, but twenty months after the funds began to flow, Morris and Biden committed to paper the transactions as loans. Federal and congressional investigators have identified promissory notes between them exceeding $5 million, many covering payments that Morris sent directly to vendors and debtors of Hunter Biden totaling at least $4.4 million, documents show. Morris later confirmed the loans in his testimony with the committee.

Morris and the younger Biden reportedly met at a Joe Biden fundraiser in 2019 hosted by Hollywood socialites in California, according to The New York Times. Phillips, one of the fundraiser hosts and a Democratic donor, introduced Morris to Hunter Biden. The successful Hollywood lawyer and the son of the former vice president became fast friends. Now, Hunter Biden says that Morris was a central figure in restoring his dignity after financial difficulties that came on top of his drug addictions and relapses from recovery. Fox News dubbed Morris “Hunter’s sugar brother.”

“I don’t know where I would be if not for Kevin,” Hunter Biden told The Los Angeles Times. Confirming the loans, Hunter Biden said “And I don’t mean just because he has loaned me money to survive this onslaught, I mean because he has given me back my dignity. He’s been a brother to me.”
