Wisconsin State, Local Democrats Launch Effort to Protect Incumbents During November Midterms

State and local Democrats in Wisconsin announced a new partnership to register voters for the upcoming midterms.

The announcement comes as polls have shown President Joe Biden underwater, which could spell trouble for other Democrats on the ballot.

The partnership, entitled “Forward for Wisconsin,” will work to increase turnout by investing in “communities of color, tribal and rural communities” and building “a robust campus organizing program as well as fully fund a voter protection program that will ensure Wisconsinites’ right to vote and ensure fair and free elections.”

“More than ever, it’s critical that we work together and continue to do the right thing for Wisconsin. Elections in our state always come down to a handful of votes, and organizing early is crucial to making sure we are successful again in 2022. That’s why I’m proud to be part of Forward for Wisconsin, the largest midterm coordinated campaign in the history of our state. It’s never been more important to elect leaders who believe in democracy, protecting access to health care, and giving our kids the best chance to succeed. I know Wisconsin Democrats are unified and ready to win in November,” said Governor Tony Evers.

Evers is expected to face a tough competition against a GOP counterpart.

Furthermore, Republican Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) will likely face a tough challenge against a Democratic opponent – a competition that could determine the control of the U.S. Senate.

“In 2022, Wisconsin Democrats are ready to re-elect leaders like Governor Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul, and to elect a U.S. Senator who will always put Wisconsin first. We are thrilled to be launching Forward for Wisconsin today with our national partners, which will have the statewide organizing strength and resources to elect Democrats up and down the ticket who will fight every day for Wisconsin families,” added Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler.
